One could say I am childfree by circumstance but that is secondary; I am childfree first and foremost by choice. I have a Kallmann Syndrome, a rare congenital condition which affects my ability to have children. I was diagnosed after meeting my love of 30-plus years. Conceiving would certainly have involved fertility specialists.
Fortunately, neither my husband nor I wanted kids. I had no profound reasons at the time but as life happened/happens, I have never questioned my decision and am beyond happy with it. Freedom to do what I want, when I want without having to be responsible for anyone other than myself… it’s as simple as that.
