“It gives me the freedom to climb harder and higher.”
My name is Dragonsky, I’m 31 years old and I just had a tubal litigation. It was important to have power over my body as a lesbian, Nigerian American woman who suffers with severe depression.
When I was a little girl, I wanted kids. But when I became an adult my eyes were open to racism, climate change, and homophobia. I didn’t want to pass on my genes or – worse – bring a child into this world with a parent who is mentally ill.
My paradigm also changed drastically, after thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2021. I realized that I wanted to live my life for me and grow as a professional hiker. Children would hinder my growth and freedom.
I also found that I did not like children at all and found myself avoiding them whenever I could. I’m grateful to have a doctor here in New Jersey who was on board with my decision. I regret nothing and embrace the freedom that I truly have now.
Living a childfree life means enjoying my career as a professional hiker, influencer and Disney published author.
It gives me the freedom to climb harder and higher. To be financially secure and to live a life worth living. Unapologetically.
