“It helps to know there are others out there.”

Megan, 37, UK

I think I’m relatively new to my childfree journey.

Having children was something I tended to just assume I would want, and something that would happen for me. But the older I got the more I realised that maybe it wasn’t something I wanted.

I have lots of very close friends with children and navigating that is sometimes difficult as I often get that feeling of ‘am I missing out?’ ‘Will I be left out because I don’t have children’ ‘Are they judging me because I don’t want children like them?’. But it is something I am working through with my partner (he also doesn’t want children).

In all honesty I don’t have a specific reason as to why I don’t want children, I just know it’s something I don’t want – and there are times I think about it but those moments are really fleeting.

Finding your page on instagram though as really helped, to know that there are others out there as to be honest it feels like in my group of friends, we are the minority!
