“I have never been treated differently at work for not having children.”

Irina, 45, Portugal

I have never been treated differently at work for not having children.

Over the last 15 years, I have worked in three different companies, and never felt I was treated any different from my colleagues who have children.

I have actually been given the chance to work from home when my cat was sick (and another colleague of mine who went through the same, she also was given the chance to work from home to stay with her dog). Also, over the last few years I’ve had some issues regarding mental health and, again, I am able to work from home whenever I don’t feel well enough to be at the office.

So, I just wanted to give you a feedback of a positive example.I do wish, of course, that everyone would be treated fairly and equally no matter if they do have or don’t have children (but that would be a totally different conversation :))
