Happy World Vasectomy Day!

Celebrating childfree men doing their part ✂️

Happy World Vasectomy Day!

What are we celebrating?

Men taking reproductive responsibility into their own hands 🙌

Men like Dane, who no longer has to deal with pregnancy scares, whose op has made life a little easier and more free. Men like – me! Like Dane, I wish I’d had the snip sooner, to take the physical, mental and emotional load of birth control off Zoë, while she fought against medical gaslighting and neglect.

As the incredible book Ejaculate Responsibly lays out, it’s men who are mostly responsible for unwanted pregnancies, and it’s men who should be taking accountability.

Of course it’s not fair – and no accident – that vasectomies are cheaper, safer, less invasive, more reliable and accessible, than the alternatives for uterus-havers. Contrast that with the experiences of (mostly) women, who’ve had their requests for permanent birth control denied, dismissed or delayed.

While this gender gap exists – and in a lot of places, it’s widening every day – men should be stepping up to do their part. It’s just a little snip! ✂️

You can read about men and couple’s vasectomy experiences here, and if you have a childfree man in your life, encourage him to share his story, or even better, to consider doing his part for contraception. And if he won’t listen to you – send him my way, to ask me about my vasectomy!
