Living up to “the Childfree Ideal”

There's nothing wrong with being "normal"!

I don’t know about you, but this quote from JoAnna in today’s story hits me HARD 😬

We try to strike a balance between sharing stories that inspire you and those that let you know, you don’t have to do anything inspirational with your life. But sometimes I wonder whether we’re succeeding?

Take, for example, our latest beautiful portrait of the amazing Blair. She’s a production designer who got her start on The Muppets, and has done everything from working as a sketch artist in Paris to delivering singing telegrams dressed as an Oreo 👩‍🎨🍪

A hundred lives across seven countries, and Blair’s still going, still growing. That’s a lot to live up to!

So, if you take anything away from today’s story, I hope you know that you don’t have to live up to this example. For every Blair, there are ten JoAnnas. “Regular” people with normal lives, struggling with their career and finances and mental health issues, like the rest of us.

Yes, not having kids might give you more options and more freedom. But that doesn’t mean you’re obliged to take that freedom and run to the edge of the world and back for your life to matter. You might just live a perfectly “normal” life, that just happens to have no children with it.

So here’s hoping that We are Childfree helps you feel inspired and empowered to live your best childfree life, while giving you full permission to decide what that means for yourself. We believe that all your experiences are valid, and all your stories are interesting!
