“I thought motherhood was inevitable since that's all I knew.”
I am the oldest woman of 20 cousins, so I was surrounded by children growing up.
Weekends and weeknights from ages 11-16 were always taken up by babysitting young cousins and siblings. I thought motherhood for myself was inevitable since that’s all I knew.
I’m not sure what clicked, but one day I just thought, ‘You know…I really hate babysitting. I don’t want to do that ever again.’ If I don’t even enjoy babysitting, I certainly shouldn’t be a mother.
